A Little About Me
I’m Renee but I also answer to Rose because that’s life with two “first names”. I live a pretty boring life but I infuse it with as much pizazz as an introvert can handle. I’m truly a family-oriented home body but I know that change and adventure is good for me. I have 2 littles at home. I have 1 husky whom we call "Bear" because he looks like a giant teddy bear, a Corgi puppy that could be mistaken for a cat, goat or pig and 1 socialite Torti cat. Additionally, I’m fascinated with cultures and I love teenagers so we have hosted exchange students. I like to watch movies, be outside and play with my kids. Lastly, I have experienced many complications during both my pregnancies and postpartum journeys which made life challenging. I'm sharing this because on some level through my own experience, I understand how difficult this journey to motherhood is and I know with help, things can be different.
My Approach
I have experience in understanding various diagnoses and treatments that are evidence based. But more than that, I will listen, provide support and offer you gentle yet honest feedback. I know depression, anxiety and trauma symptoms can impact our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, relationships and health. I will help you learn how to challenge your negative thoughts and replace them with better alternatives. I will help you with skills to manage your anxiety so you acknowledge its presence but don't let it consume you. I will help you learn how to balance your needs and sustain your relationships. I am an Art Therapist and and enjoy building in art, writing and music if you'd like. We can work through your trauma. With help, mood, anxiety and trauma disorders are treatable. I am really passionate about pregnant and postpartum issues (perinatal mental health). Call today to take back control.

My Background and Experience
Since graduation in 2011 I have primarily worked with underserved/low income families, adolescents and young children. Through my years of service, I have gained a solid understanding of trauma and attachment. As a result, I work from an attachment lens (knowledge that our early life experience shapes the core of who we are and skills can be learned to bridge gaps). This is what peaked my interest in Infant Mental Health (helping caregivers and babies to have a healthy relationship and provide developmental guidance among other things). I'm interested in Perinatal Mental Health because our past issues often get stirred up with major life changes (ex: pregnancy, delivery, and parenting), there are hormonal changes that contribute to mood and anxiety issues, and of course traumatic pregnancies and/or births happen. For those of you pursuing support throughout your pregnancy and/or postpartum, I am a mother myself with my own journey of difficulties. Hopefully this will help you to feel comfortable to share your story and receive genuine support.
Since opening my private practice in July of 2019 I have served adults as my primary clients (not just within a family or caregiver role) both for Perinatal Mental Health needs and those with depression, anxiety and trauma. And I'm loving working with adults!
I enjoy assisting people in learning and utilizing skills that improve their self-view and relationship skills with others such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I understand that life holds many transitions and believe that counseling can be invaluable in supporting people’s transitions through difficult or transformative times. I look forward to learning your story and helping you achieve your goals in a supportive, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship.
